Irvington resident Eric Betz and the victim initially met at Lifetime Fitness in Harrison where Betz worked as a trainer, Scarpino said. On or about July 1, 2017, Betz contacted the victim and arranged to meet her, and then forcibly groped and sexually assaulted the victim in spite of her protests, the DA added, noting that after a brief struggle with the victim, Betz left the premises.

Betz pleaded not guilty to one count of forcible touching, one count of sexual abuse in the third degree and one count of harassment in the second degree.

His bail was set at $3,000 cash over $3,000 bond, and his next court date is Jan. 25.

Betz faces up to one year in jail.
