The West Harrison Fire Department hosted a wet-down ceremony for its new firetruck, engine 267. This time-honored ritual is celebrated when a fire department commissions a brand-new apparatus. The West Harrison Fire Department anointed the new truck by spraying the entire engine with water.

Con Edison is continuing to work on a gas line construction project on Halstead Avenue, between West and Oak streets, and may need to store supplies and equipment along the road. Crews may also need to excavate parts of the sidewalks, driveways or lawn areas. If your property is affected, Con Ed will restore it.

Residents should examine the trees on their property, checking for dead or diseased limbs. During inclement weather, damaged trees can fall on homes and utility lines, causing power outages and property damage.

Before storm season arrives, it would be prudent for homeowners to prune trees and trim, cut back or tie up any unhealthy offshoots.

In the same fashion, make sure to trim bushes and flowering shrubs that impede neighborhood sidewalks.

The Harrison-Mamaroneck Rotary, in partnership with South East Consortium, invites the entire community to a wine-tasting event sponsored by the Harrison Wine Vault at Emilio’s Ristorante on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. There will be raffle prizes and auction items.
