Jacob Dagley, 46, who was in custody at the Fairfield Police Department, had been sought by Westport after a break-in at the Merritt Country Store on Main Street last November, police said.

According to the police report, Dagley threw a rock, smashing the store’s glass door in the early hours of Nov. 4. He then made off with $545.61 worth of smokes, police said.

Later that night, Dagley and an accomplice were involved in a high- speed chase with the Milford Police Department and were arrested, Westport police said.

Westport detectives were able to use the store’s surveillance video to connect Dagley to the convenience store crime, police said.

Dagley also had the goods on him when he was arrested, police said.

Dagley was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree larceny conspiracy, and fifth-degree larceny, police said.

He was remanded on $50,000 bond and is to appear in court on Monday, Jan. 25, police said.
