HARRISON, N.Y. -- Six years ago, the students of Harrison High School worked with the administrators and Board of Education members to develop a system that would not only reward the school’s valedictorian and salutatorian but a tiered system of honors as determined by a student’s cumulative weighted grade-point average.
The results were three levels of distinction: Summa Cum Laude (with highest praise) for students earning a 98.00 or higher; Magna Cum Laude (with great praise) for students earning a 95.00-97.99; and Cum Laude (with praise) for students earning a 93.00-94.99.
