Harrison High Seniors Look to the Future

HARRISON, N.Y. – Harrison High School senior Tommy Spiconardi said that he is excited to graduate on Friday but fears that he won’t see most of his fellow classmates ever again.

“The reality of it is beginning to sink in,” Spiconardi said.

Spiconardi said that he will be attending Westchester Community College in the fall to get his grades up, adding that he is hoping to transfer to another school after two years. Fellow Senior Taylor Gillespie is heading to Nicholls College in Dudley, Mass. Though Gillespie said that she is excited to be on her own, she is sad to be leaving HHS.

“I want to feel what it’s like to have more responsibilities,” Gillespie said about going to college next year. “I’m still nervous about going and meeting new people.”

As is fellow senior Loren Griffo who is off to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst to study in the fall. Griffo said that she has friends who are going to be in Pennsylvania and others in Washington, D.C., whom she is planning on seeing.

“We want to keep in touch even though we are going to be further away from each other,” Griffo said. “This school has been amazing for me. I think our class grew a lot closer than past classes because we did so much more together.”

Senior Andrea Tuzzolino said that she is excited to grow up and experience new things. Tuzzolino will be studying at Adelphi University on Long Island next year. Though she is excited for something new, she said that she is still going to miss some of her classmates.

“I’m sure I’ll be back to visit,” Tuzzolino said. “Four years here has been enough.”

The HHS graduation ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m., Friday, at the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College, 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase.
