They are among 16,000 semifinalists nationwide to be selected as the highest-scoring entrants in each state. They will be notified in February/March if they are finalists and possibly Merit Scholarship winners.
In October 2012, more than 1.5 million U.S. high school students who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and met other program participation requirements entered the 2014 competition for National Merit Scholarship Program recognition and scholarships.
Nearly two-thirds of those high scorers received National Merit Scholar Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. Harrison High School is proud that six of its seniors were acknowledged as Commended Students in 2014.
National Merit Commended Students are: Benjamin Adler, Kiersten Colotti, Amanda Friedman, Danielle Mehlman, Julia Ng and Michael Stella.
