Harrison Youth Council Appoints Program Director, Youth Counselor

HARRISON, N.Y. – The Harrison Youth Council has appointed Naomi Pollock as program director of the agency and Erin Upton as a family and youth counselor.

Pollock was project director and supervisor for Child Guidance Resource Centers, in Havertown/Philadelphia, Pa. In this position, she was clinical supervisor and administrative manager of family therapists and performed other duties, including fiscal management, staff hiring, program development, staff training and professional development.

She also launched a unit specializing in the ASD population, setting up infrastructure, communication paths, and managed care relations in order to meet budget and provide effective treatment. Pollock received a bachelor's degree in anthropology from New York University in 2004, a master's of social work from Syracuse University in 2007, and in May 2013, received a doctor of social work degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a licensed clinical social worker.

Upton joined Harrison Youth Council in February. Previously, she was a social worker for Cortlandt Healthcare, where she was responsible for short- and long-term residents, providing emotional support and counseling to both the residents and their families. Prior to that, she worked as an elementary school social worker at YES Community Counseling Center, in Massapequa, N.Y., where she educated children on alcohol and drug abuse prevention, identified appropriate referrals and community resources to students and their families and provided individual and family group counseling. In addition, she created and implemented a bullying prevention program for elementary school students.

She received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Loyola College in Maryland in 2009 and a master's in social work  from SUNY at Stony Brook in 2012. Upton is a licensed masters social worker.
