Harrison Powers To Victory In District 20 Baseball

THORNWOOD, N.Y. —  Harrison erupted for eight runs in the second inning on its way to beat Kensico, 16-2, in the winners bracket final of the District 20 Little League Baseball 11-year-old Championship at Volunteer Field on Tuesday.

Harrison had one run in and two outs when Joe DiDonato's infield single initiated the offensive barrage.

Harrison moves into the final at 4 p.m. Saturday at O'Rourke Field in Eastchester. Kensico and Eastchester meet in the losers bracket final at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at Gedney Field in White Plains. The winner will play Harrison for the title.

Michael Arlotta crushed a solo home run with one out in the second. After a Billy O'Meara single, Kensico got a force out. But DiDonato kept the inning alive with an infield hit. Joe Tiburzi doubled in Christian Pizzutello and winning pitcher Jack Woolf launched a shot that landed beyond the hill in center field.

Woolf, who allowed two hits and struck out six, and Arlotta were joined in the home run brigade by Derek Ferraro, who also deposited a shot on the hill beyond the center field fence.

Arlotta scored three runs and later added another RBI. Frankie Nannariello singled in a run, and DiDonato added an RBI and scored a run.

Joe Pecora had two of Kensico's three hits and scored a run. Patrick Gleason drove in a run, and Mike Ferrara had Kensico's other hit.
