Matthew Mancini, Somers Resident, Mount Kisco Native, 28
Memorial services have been set for Matthew Charles Mancini, a 28-year-old former Somers resident who died in his sleep on Saturday, March 25.
Mancini was born in Mount Kisco but grew up in Somers, graduating from Somers High School.
He was working as a telecom systems engineer in Philadelphia at the time of his death.
Mancini had attended SUNY IT, now known as SUNY Polytechnic Institute, in Utica before moving to Syracuse.
He later accepted a job with a telecommunications business in Philadelphia, where, his family says, he “quickly became a rising star and go-to for his company.”

Hudson Valley Wine & Chocolate Festival Supports Putnam Nonprofit
PATTERSON, N.Y. – A fest set in Putnam County's Patterson this weekend will give wine and chocolate lovers the chance to sip, sample, and shop -- and help others at the same time.
The gustatory gala is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, and Sunday, April 2, at the Patterson Recreation Center, 65 Front St.

New Ward System Is 'Local Government At Its Best,' Clarkstown Chief Says
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. -- Clarkstown has implemented a new way of voting that, Supervisor George Hoehmann says, “represents local government at its best.”
The ward system, which was approved by voters in 2015, divvies up the town into four zones.
After ironing out a few wrinkles, the Town Board voted unanimously to implement it Tuesday.
This means that, instead of running “at large,” council candidates must be elected by the residents of the ward in which they themselves live.

Three Possess Heroin In Kmart Parking Lot, Yorktown Police Say
Three people are facing charges of heroin possession after being arrested at a Yorktown Heights shopping center late Monday, police say.
Jesse Suggs, 31, of Yorktown; Katlin E. Leonard, 30, of Brewster in Putnam County; and Christopher Velazquez, 30, of Holmes, were arrested around 10:20 p.m. at the Yorktown Green Shopping Center off Downing Drive, police said.
Holmes is a hamlet in the Dutchess County town of Pawling.
