$100K Lottery Ticket Sold In East Longmeadow
It was a very lucky day for one Bay Stater on Thursday, April 18, when they bought a lottery ticket that scored them a $100,000 payday. The winner collected the grand prize for the "Quick $100s" lottery game. It's a tidy sum for a $2 scratch-off ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at Emporium Newstand at 444 N Main St. The store will get a bonus for the sale. Victim Dies From Wounds In Chicopee Convenience Store Shooting
A person who was shot on Thursday, April 18, at a Hampden County convenience store has died, authorities said. The shooting happened in Chicopee around 5:30 p.m. at Zain’s Smoke Shop & Convenience on Montgomery Street. Paramedics rushed the victim to an area hospital, where they died later that night, Chicopee Police said. Police have released few details about the shooting or the victim. An Oklahoma man has been arrested and charged with throwing a pipe bomb at the Satanic Temple in Salem after the group did not heed his God's warnings to repent, federal authorities said. A 24-year-old Hampden County man admitted to killing a pedestrian in a crash where he was going more than twice the speed limit and driving in the wrong lane, authorities said. Nazier Grandison, of Springfield, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and a judge sentenced him to three to four years in prison for the 2022 crash in Chicopee, the Hampden County District Attorney's Office announced Thursday, April 18. Ford announced that it would recall over 450,000 Bronco Sport SUVs and Maverick vehicles because of an issue with the battery that can cause the drive train to lose power and increase the likelihood of wrecks. The only certainty in life is death and taxes, but that doesn't stop people from trying to cheat them. A Swampscott woman hired to stop tax cheats is now accused of being one herself, police said. Ndeye Amy Thioub, 67, was indicted on Wednesday, April 17, on three counts of filing false tax returns and three counts of filing false tax returns as an employee of the United States, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said.
