Over $250K Raised For Families Of Deputy, Cop Killed In Shootout On Quiet Suburban NY Street
More than a quarter of a million dollars has been raised to support the families of a police officer and sheriff's deputy killed in a shootout with a suspect who also died on a quiet suburban street in upstate New York earlier this week.
The two officers were Onondaga County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Hoosock, age 37, and Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen, age 29.
Hoosock is survived by his wife, Caitlin, and their three young children, ages 7, 5, and 3.

Landmarks across New York will be lit up in orange on Wednesday, April 17, to honor state highway workers and encourage safer driving through their work zones.
Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that Monday, April 15 through Friday, April 19 is Work Zone Awareness Week, with the national theme of “Work zones are temporary. Actions behind the wheel can last forever.”

A Long Island man was arrested after police say he broke into a couple’s apartment, punching one victim and causing property damage.
It happened on Monday, April 15 in Island Park, according to Nassau County Police.
Just before 12:45 a.m. that morning, a 45-year-old woman called the police to report that a man had broken into their apartment and was fighting with the woman’s boyfriend, age 50.

A Powerball second prize — worth $2 million after a Powerplay feature — has been claimed on Long Island.
On Thursday, April 11, the New York State Lottery announced that the Oyster Bay company “Groovy D Limited Liability Company (LLC)” had laid claim to a Powerball Powerplay prize for matching the first five Powerball numbers drawn months earlier.
